1. What this policy covers
This policy explains how InvestigatorX collects, uses and shares consumer health data through this website, as required by laws such as the Washington My Health My Data Act and Nevada and Connecticut consumer health data laws. It adds to our Privacy Policy, which covers all personal information. "Consumer health data" means personal information that is linked or reasonably linkable to you and identifies your past, present or future physical or mental health.
2. Consumer health data we collect
- Pre-screen answers: age range, BMI range, conditions you select (such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea, knee pain or arthritis, fatty liver or heart disease) and whether you take a weight-loss medicine now.
- Health details you choose to write in a message.
- The fact that you, or someone you care for, are interested in obesity or metabolic clinical studies, and whether you were referred to a research site.
The BMI calculator does not collect data: it runs in your browser and nothing you type into it is sent to us.
3. Where it comes from
From you, when you send our pre-screen or contact form, and from your doctor or clinician, if they refer you with your permission.
4. Why we collect and use it
- To identify potential clinical research opportunities, and to contact you about potential matches, with your consent.
- To refer you to a named research site, only when you authorize that referral.
- To let your referring doctor know how the referral went, only with your consent.
- To keep records of referrals and consents, and to meet legal obligations.
- To prepare aggregated, de-identified counts that do not identify anyone.
6. We do not sell consumer health data
InvestigatorX does not sell consumer health data, and does not use it for advertising or geofencing.
7. Your rights
- Confirm whether we collect, share or sell your consumer health data, and get a copy of it.
- Get a list of the third parties and affiliates we have shared it with.
- Withdraw your consent to our collecting or sharing it.
- Have it deleted, including by the parties we shared it with on our behalf.
- Appeal if we decline your request.
8. How to use your rights and appeal
Send our privacy request form and choose the request you want to make. We will confirm your identity, then respond within 45 days; if we need more time where the law allows, we will tell you why. We will not treat you differently for using your rights.
If we decline your request, you can appeal by replying to our decision or by sending the form with "Appeal a decision". We will respond in writing within 45 days. If your appeal is denied, you may contact the attorney general of your state; Washington residents may contact the Washington State Attorney General's Office.
